Main Street Housing, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a designated Community Development Housing Organization (CHDO) in Maryland.
Kenneth R. Wireman, MSW
Executive Director
Ken Wireman is the founding Executive Director of Main Street Housing, Inc. A native of Hagerstown, MD, he received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland and has worked in the mental health field in various capacities for twenty years, including Director of a Targeted Case Management Team and Director of Mental Health Services for the Washington County Core Service Agency. He is an adjunct professor for the University of Southern New Hampshire where he teaches classes to students working toward a Masters in Community Mental Health. He has practiced as a psychotherapist and provided psychiatric emergency room services for patients in Baltimore, Maryland.
With a long history of providing mental health services and being involved at the policy level for mental health systems, Ken has gained a well-rounded perspective on the Public Mental Health System in Maryland and the needs of the consumers that it serves. He was a founding commissioner for Governor Ehrlich’s Department of Disabilities’ Commission on Disabilities, and has done national work with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration on issues regarding systems integration and issues pertaining to service delivery for persons with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental illness. He has traveled extensively throughout the country to present seminars on the Main Street Housing, Inc. program, and has been involved in political advocacy at a national level regarding mental health services.
